This page describes the website, affirmateme.app. The AffirmateMe app is a separate thing with its own privacy policy — nothing here applies to it, and nothing there applies to this site.
Before you choose anything
Nothing is stored in your browser and nothing is sent to anyone else. There is no banner-shaped exception hiding behind that sentence, so it is worth spelling out what it rules out:
- No third-party requests at all. The fonts, the animation libraries, the photographs and the Google Play badge are all served from
affirmateme.app. None of them are fetched from Google, from a CDN, or from anywhere else. Loading a page here does not tell any other company that you did. - No cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting until you make a choice below.
- No advertising, no remarketing, no profiling, and nothing sold or shared. There are no ad networks on this site, and no audience lists are built from it.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare has to receive your IP address to send you the page at all, and it keeps short-lived operational logs to serve and protect the site. That is the hosting itself, not tracking, and it cannot be switched off without switching off the website.
If you accept analytics
We load Google Analytics 4 and it sets two cookies:

What we look at with it: which articles are read and for how long, roughly where in the world visitors are, and what brought them here — a search engine, a link, or typing the address. What we do with that: decide which articles to write more of.
Google is the recipient of this data and processes it on servers including ones in the United States, under Google's terms. We have turned off the advertising signals — ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are set to denied whatever you choose here, because this site runs no advertising. If that ever changes, this page changes with it and the banner asks you again rather than quietly reusing your answer.
If you decline
Nothing is loaded. Google Analytics is never fetched, so no request reaches Google at all — this is not the version where the tag loads anyway and promises to behave.
The site is identical either way. Nothing is withheld, slowed down, or hidden behind accepting. Ignoring the banner entirely also works: it is a bar at the bottom, not a wall, and scrolling past it is not treated as agreement.
The one thing stored either way
When you choose, we save the choice itself in your browser's local storage under afme_consent — the version of the notice you answered, whether you said yes to analytics, and the date. It exists so we stop asking you on every page. It is not sent anywhere, and it is not an identifier: it says nothing about who you are.
Changing your mind
Use Cookie settings in the footer of any page. It reopens the same banner with your current choice shown.
Turning analytics off there also deletes the _ga cookies immediately rather than leaving them to expire on their own. You can also clear cookies and site data for affirmateme.app in your browser, which resets everything including the record of your choice — the banner will then ask again.
Links to Google Play
The download buttons take you to the Google Play Store. That is Google's site under Google's privacy policy, and the link carries a tag telling us which page of ours you came from — the article, not you. We use it to see which writing leads people to the app.
